This bag is the 40l Stone version – it’s a brown colour. A grey one is also available.
The brand-new redesigned Turkana Duffalo™ looks like a classic Duffel bag, but there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye with this tough waterproof and dustproof motorbike soft luggage duffel. It’s the ideal alternative to a metal top box, which can get damaged in a fall. I (Brad – founder of GS Gear) have snapped my luggage rack twice while having too much fun offroad, with my top box fitted. It’s just too much weight hanging over the back of the GS. These Duffalo bags spread the weight out and won’t cause any damage.

Bikers can be a rough bunch and most of the time, be quite hard on their gear. We created an extreme adventure dual sport motorcycle duffle bag and yet remain stuck to our KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy.
We had to rethink the classic duffel. Our experience over the years with the “old-style” duffel had to undergo an update to be more durable, tough, and usable for motorcycle and other dual-sport adventure use.
The Turkana Duffalo™ retains a universal style soft luggage wide mouth and will fit most motorcycles, but has features that we feel are important to get the best use.

Wide mouth duffel, check!
There is no doubt that having a wide-mouth bag makes it user-friendly. It is easy to get to your stuff and simple to pack and unpack without chucking out everything to get to Teddy (who is always hiding at the bottom).
A wide mouth allows for big items to be packed.
The rolltop closure ensures the bag is 100% dustproof and waterproof with an IP67 rating that withstands quick submersions in water, good for any adventure motorcycle expeditions.
Outer layer, check!
The outer layer is made from strong fabrics, namely Rhinocote™ and 1680 Tuffstuff™ which can take a lot of abuse and has a high tear, shaving and abrasion resistance. Round the world motorbike riders understand the need for strong tough materials.
With this fabric as the first level of protection, it allowed us to add usable tie-down points which are not always found on PVC/TPU duffel bags. To add more redundancy, we also padded the bottom layer for more protection, to prevent shaving and abrasion from damaging the inside layer and to be kind to the motorcycle paintwork and bodywork.
Water and dustproof inner liner, check!
The second layer consists of an inner liner that fits inside the Duffalo™ and secures the opening rim of the duffel with hook & loop (that stuff that makes the tearing sounds).
The inside is a light colour to allow you to see the contents easier. The liner is removable so the moto adventure duffel bag can be used with or without the liner. Water might still gather between the liner and the outer bag, but it will not penetrate the inner liner. If the worst should happen and the inner liner does get damaged. it can simply be replaced without the need to replace the entire bag.
Double Layer Design
The kryptonite of all the PU/PVC type duffels is that they get holes and eventually tears (and duct tape only lasts so long!). Abrasion, continuous shaving and sharp objects have a way to damage those bags, so we decided to go with an inner liner as we believe a dual-layer is a must.
If your outer bags are torn, they will be easy to fix while your inner bag still keeps your valuables safe from dust and water. If you tear the inner bag, that can be temporarily repaired, but easily replaced. Why throw away a bag just because the fabric that is supposed to keep it water and dustproof can’t deal with hair-raising motorbike dual-sport adventures?
Additional inner padded bottom layer, check!
Sandwiched between the outer layer skin and inner waterproof/dustproof dry bag is a padded protective layer. This protective layer is designed to offer additional protection against vibration and shaving. Riding rough enduro-type offroad tracks or teeth-rattling backcountry dirt roads, vibration and shaving in many cases will cause holes in any fabric. The layer adds additional padded protection. This minimises holes, protects content and valuables and should a hole appear, the soft luggage motorcycle duffel bag can still be used as intended.
Field repairable, check!
When your bike takes a dirt nap on a tiny dirt road (on your way to climbing Mount Jebel Toubkal in the Moroccan Atlas mountains), the Duffalo™ motorbike duffel bag is field repairable.
All our Turkana gear motorcycle soft luggage products can be repaired with basic sewing kits or dental floss and a multi-tool. Buckles and webbing are standard sizes across the world and easy to find and replace.
Additional attachment for pockets, check!
It is important that the bag can be configured for different trips or adventures. What better system to use than what Chuck Norris uses? Yes, M.O.L.L.E. is perfect for this application! Now, it is possible to add and use our other pockets to add more storage space to the duffel. In addition, any pouch with the M.O.L.L.E. system can be used. Configure the bag to exactly suit your needs on the trip ahead. With these webbing loops, virtually anything can be tied to it.
M.O.L.L.E
We incorporated the M.O.L.L.E. system on our motorcycle soft luggage bags, which allows for better tie-down options and customizable and usable features. This design of the outer bag allows riders to configure their luggage options to suit their riding style with the option to add different attachments such as pouches, small tent bags and bottle holders etc. to the Duffalo.
We decided to get rid of the shoulder strap (that one never uses!) and created an adjustable carry handle, doubling as shoulder straps when the need arises to use the duffel as a backpack.
Multipurpose use
Use your Duffalo™ for more than just motorbike riding. This utility travel bag can just as much be used for going to the gym, storing your 4×4 accessories or even as a rugged business travel bag. When packed correctly, this duffel will protect your cameras, notebooks, phones and important documents. You can also take it horse-riding.
